Winning Weekend

On Saturday we boarded another train to Daegu, where Ryan's Ultimate Frisbee team (Busan Heat) was set to take part in the league's play-off games.

When it was time for them to play, the Heat won their first game, allowing them to advance in the bracket.

Goal!

This put them in a match-up with Busan's second Ultimate team, made up of Ryan's friends and teammates from weekend frisbee pick-up games.
Representing for Busan!
And the Heat won.

In another extremely close match, Ryan's team won their third game too.

The last game they played was for the championship.

In that game, where every point scored by one team was immediately matched by the other, the Heat beat the Uprising, in overtime.

They celebrated an incredible day and their title of Champions.

Me and the champion :)

Exhausted, we headed home to rest up for the college football game of the year, Oregon vs. Stanford.

And what a game it was.

I'm so jealous that all my college roomies were together at Stanford for the game.
I really miss these faces.  (Pictured here, minus Maegan in 2009 at Autzen.)

There's always next year!

Weekend in Daegu: Part Two

An Italian dinner at "Into" was a real treat after our Saturday of sightseeing in Daegu.  With only five tables, this downtown restaurant has a small, open kitchen where each dish is made to order.

The next morning we explored more of the city.
Later, a proper Sunday brunch was as delicious as dinner has been.

Once our tummies were full, we headed to Ryan's back-to-back Ultimate Frisbee games, the reason for our venture to Daugu.

What a wonderful weekend.

Weekend in Daegu: Part One

On Saturday morning, I hopped a train with my honey to Daegu.

Once there, we joined a local city bus tour and stopped at a farm village to take in the local agriculture.

Stop #2 was Palongsan National Park and Dongwha Temple within.  Fall is in full swing and the Korean countryside brings out the beauty in what has become our favorite season in Korea.  Who knew it could stay sunny and dry nearly every day even when summer is over?  Not Oregonians. ;)

Stay tuned for pics from the rest of our lovely weekend!
