A sunny spring weekend down south

Ryan and I will always have a soft spot for Eugene.  It's where he grew up, where we both attended college, and the place we met and fell in love.  Since we graduated from the University of Oregon nearly five years ago (gulp) we've been back to Eugene for numerous football games and family events.  Ryan's dad, stepmom and younger sister still live there, as do many of my extended family members.

Saturday morning the two of us made the drive to Eugene through a mix of true Oregon weather--sunshine alternating with clouds and rain, and spent the weekend with Ryan's family.  We hadn't seen them since our return and it was great to reunite over the Oregon spring football game, mini golf, and a slide show of pictures from our Southeast Asia trip.
{Jeana and I both got a hole-in-one!}

Of course we had to visit some of our favorite local restaurants while in town.
{Carnitas burrito and fish tacos at Mucho Gusto}
{Chili margarita at Cafe Lucky Noodle}

On Sunday we timed an impromptu phone call to my dad's sister perfectly, as she was on her way to brunch with my other aunt and many cousins.  What an unexpected delight it was to see everyone!

Today we said so long to Eugene and headed back to our interim home, a mini houseboat behind my grandparent's place on the Willamette River.  It's cozy (and by cozy I mean tiny) but it's a step up from living out of a backpack, and Ryan is in heaven.  He can practically stumble out the front door with his fishing pole and reel in some salmon.  I have no problem with dinner being taken care of every night. :-)  While he's working on catching dinner for tomorrow, I'll be working on uploading the (hundreds of) pictures from our trip.  Look for those soon!
